BOSTON - Regis College lost both ends of a doubleheader to Emmanuel College, 13-0 and 11-2, Saturday in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) softball twinbill at Roberto Clemente Field.

GAME ONE: EMMANUEL 13, REGIS 0

Emmanuel (14-12, 7-1 GNAC) loaded the bases in the bottom of the first inning thanks to two walks and a single, and then Abigail Farr drove in Amanda Penney with a single to left field. After a sacrifice fly hit by Sammy Hayes drove in Taylor Chelak, Emma Crisafulli blasted a three-run home run over the fence in center field to increase the Saint lead to 5-0.

The Saints loaded the bases again in the third inning on two singles and a walk, and then Mia Fernandes singled to drive in Farr, with Hayes also scoring thanks to a Regis error. Christyna Winstead hit a two-run double to right-center field, Penney drew a walk, and Chelak sent a three-run home run over the fence in right-center field.

After Emmanuel pitcher Madison Marks retired the first nine batters in order, both Bianca Burke (Cambridge, Mass.) and Abby Erickson (Worcester, Mass.) reached base on errors in the top of the fourth inning and advanced into scoring position, but Marks picked up a strikeout to end the scoring threat.

After Chelak added an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth inning, Marks retired the first two batters in the fifth inning before Chloe Beland (Southborough, Mass.) broke up the no-hitter with a solid single to left field. Marks did finish with a complete game shutout, striking out seven batters as she faced just two hitters over the minimum.

GAME TWO: EMMANUEL 11, REGIS 2

Penney led off the bottom of the first inning by reaching on an error, and Chelak followed with her second home run of the day. After consecutive singles by Olivia Conti and Farr, Hayes drove in Conti with a double, and Madeline Parrish hit a single that scored Farr. Winstead hit a sharp single to center field that allowed both Hayes and Parrish to score and extend the Emmanuel lead to 6-0.

In the top of the third inning, Burke led off with a single to center field, her 100th career hit at Regis. However, the Pride could not take advantage of the runner on base. Hayes led off the bottom of the third inning with a single, and then Winstead laced a double to right-center field that scored pinch runner Fernandes.

Emmanuel scored a run on a bases-loaded walk in the fourth inning, but Regis finally broke through in the top of the fifth inning, starting with a leadoff single by Beland. After Avery Patles (Derry, N.H.) reached base on a fielder's choice and stole second, Beland and Patles were able to come around and score on a Saint error.

The Saints would close out the game in the bottom of the fifth inning thanks to a three-run home run from Conti. Mackenzie Briggs earned the victory for Emmanuel, allowing four hits and two runs in five innings with two strikeouts.

Regis (7-19, 3-9 GNAC) returns to divisional play Sunday, April 21, hosting Mitchell College in a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m., two hours later than the originally scheduled start time. After the twinbill, the Pride seniors will be recognized in a Senior Day presentation.
