Softball Held Scoreless Against Emerson

BOSTON - Regis College was held scoreless in both games of Tuesday's non-conference collegiate softball doubleheader against Emerson College at Rotch Field.

GAME ONE: Emerson 2, Regis 0

Colby Butterfield (Gilford, N.H.) pitched a complete game for the Regis, striking out 12 batters while allowing only two earned runs. Jessica Gomez earned the win for Emerson with 12 strikeouts and zero runs allowed.

Bianca Burke (Cambridge, Mass.) went 2-for-4, including a double in the top of the third inning for the only extra base hit in the game for the Pride. Andria Braga (Rehoboth, Mass.) and Kayla Morrill (Lynn, Mass.) finished 1-for-2 with both players hitting singles.

Grace Beaulieu led Emerson offensively, going 2-for-3 including a double and two RBIs. Sam Zannotti also went 2-for-3 and scored a run for the Lions.

GAME TWO: Emerson 8, Regis 0

Three Pride players had hits in game two of the doubleheader against Emerson with Madi Zancan (Cumberland, R.I.), Abby Erickson (Worcester, Mass.), and Morrill all reaching on singles for the Pride.

Diana Petrarca (Coventry, R.I.) and Alyssa Ward (Webster, Mass.) split time on the rubber for Regis while Beaulieu and Kit Zenga each pitched three innings for the Lions, allowing only three hits and zero runs.

Emerson scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to end the game early off the run rule. Claire Overton went 3-for-4 with two RBIs while managing to score three times. Zannotti also went 3-for-4 with two RBIs while Kayla Nuehlen finished 3-for-3. Jessica Gomez and Carly Rosenberger also finished with RBIs.

Regis College (6-14, 0-2 GNAC) hosts a doubleheader against Fisher on Wednesday, April 12, with game one beginning at 5 p.m.
