Regis College was defeated in both games of Wednesday's doubleheader against Penn State Abington and Rosemont College at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic in South Carolina.

Game One:

LITTLE RIVER, S.C. - Regis College was defeated, 6-5, by Penn State Abington in non-conference collegiate softball at North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex on Wednesday morning.

After going down two runs in the first two innings, the Pride battled back in the third starting with a double to the gap in left-center field by Bianca Burke (Cambridge, Mass.) who later scored on an RBI single by Diana Petrarca (Coventry, R.I.).

Chloe Beland (Southborough, Mass.) and Ciara Collins (Lynn, Mass.) then hit back-to-back singles, driving in another run while the pair advanced to second and third on a throwing error by the center fielder. Beland later scored on a wild pitch and Collins was driven in on a single by Kayla Morrill (Lynn, Mass.) to put Regis up, 4-2.

Lexi Nichols (Granby, Conn.) tripled to right-center field to lead off the fourth inning and was driven in on a sacrifice fly by Burke to add another run for the Pride and extend their lead to 5-2.

The Nittany Lions tied the game up in the bottom of the fifth, scoring three runs off of three hits and a Regis error including an RBI triple by Hailey Gamble.

With the game tied at 5-5 heading into the bottom of the seventh, Abington's Jill Thomas and Drew Liss hit back-to-back singles to put runners at first and third. An infield single by Emily Foxhill loaded the bases for Jenna Gorman who hit a walk-off single to right field to win the game for the designated home team.

Game Two:

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Morrill led the Pride against Rosemont College, going 4-for-4 with a double and two RBIs in the 8-4 non-conference loss against the Ravens at Central Park Sports Complex.

Regis took control early when Burke walked to lead off the game and advanced to second on a passed ball. Beland reached first on an error at third base putting runners at first and third. A steal attempt by Beland later in the inning allowed Burke to score from third to give the Pride a 1-0 lead.

After letting up six runs in the bottom of the first, Morrill and Nichols hit back-to-back singles to center field. A fielder's choice put runners on first and third and a walk by Madi Zancan (Cumberland, R.I.) loaded the bases. Rosemont managed to pitch their way out of the jam leaving the Regis runners stranded on base.

In the top of the third Petrarca hit a double over the right fielder's head, advanced to third on a ground out to shortstop by Collins, and was driven in by a single to right-center field by Morrill to cut the Rosemont lead to 7-2.

Regis picked up another run when Petrarca reached on a hard-hit ball to first base and advanced to second on a wild pitch. She was later driven in on a single to right field by Morrill who earned her third hit and second RBI of the game.

The Pride tacked on a fourth run in the sixth inning when Marissa Allen (Berwick, Pa.) singled to right field. Later in the inning, Burke singled to right field to drive in a run and bring Regis within four of Rosemont (8-4).

Rosemont controlled the game from the bottom of the first inning, totaling 14 hits and six total RBIs with doubles from Jade Gomez-Chavarria, Allison Goodman, and Emily Bingman, as well as a triple by Myora Slaughter.
