Softball Earns First Win of 2022 Season
CLERMONT, Fla. - Regis College went 1-1 Monday, defeating Houghton, 4-0, and losing to Rose-Hulman, 6-0, at Legends Way Ballfields.

Regis did all of its scoring in the third inning, starting with a single by Bianca Burke (Cambridge, Mass.) who advanced to second on an error by the left fielder. Andria Braga (Rehoboth, Mass.) walked, and then Diana Petrarca (Coventry, R.I.) ripped a single to left field, scoring Burke and advancing Braga to second.
 
Sarah Fawcett (Londonderry, N.H.) walked, loading the bases for Kayla Morrill (Lynn, Mass.), who scored two with an RBI single. Erin Murphy (Bedford, N.H.) then hit a double to the fence, driving in Fawcett to wrap up the scoring in the inning.
 
Kate McGrath (Boston, Mass.) pitched the complete game for Regis, striking out eight while only allowing four hits and two walks to earn her first career collegiate victory. Morrill led the Pride offensively, recording two singles in three at-bats while Petrarca had two singles and one RBI.

Regis was unable to put runs on the board, losing to Rose-Hulman, 6-0, in its second game of the day.
 
Rose-Hulman got started offensively with a pair of RBI singles by Angela Boulboulle and Ashley Pinkham in the second inning. Later in the inning, Gabby Davidson would drive in an additional run on a groundout to third base.
 
The Fightin' Engineers added to their lead in the fifth inning when Hailey Hofmann singled to drive in another run. Scoring would conclude in the sixth inning when Lauren Shaw scored on a double by Boulboulle, and Pinkham knocked in another run on her second single of the game.
 
Rose-Hulman's starting pitcher Ariel Thomasson was perfect through five innings, leaving Regis hitless until the sixth when the Pride battled back with a single by Murphy. Later in the inning, Burke would hit a single of her own, but the two base runners were ultimately left stranded as the Pride were unable to score.
 
Regis College (1-2) is scheduled to play two games Tuesday, Mar. 1, first against Concordia-Moorhead at 10:15 a.m., followed by a contest against Eastern University at 12:30 p.m.
