Regis Softball Announces 2019 Competition Schedule

2019 REGIS COLLEGE SOFTBALL SCHEDULE

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College softball team is slated to play 40 games during the 2019 season, including 16 Great Northeast Athletic Conference contests, as the schedule for the upcoming campaign has been finalized.

Regis will begin the season with eight games in Clermont, Fla., March 3-7, facing schools from different parts of the country. The Pride will take on Saint Vincent College (22-10 in 2018) from the Presidents' Athletic Conference, John Carroll University (15-18) from the Ohio Athletic Conference, York College (27-16-1) from the Capital Athletic Conference, Alverno College (14-24) and Dominican University (18-20) from the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference, Elizabethtown College (18-13) from the Landmark Conference, Rosemont College (10-21) from the Colonial States Athletic Conference, and the College of Saint Elizabeth (15-12) from the North Eastern Athletic Conference.

A couple of weeks after returning from its Spring Break trip, Regis opens the home schedule March 24 with a twinbill against Lesley (22-13), followed by doubleheaders March 28 at Fitchburg State (13-20) and March 31 at Elms (15-17). The month of April will be busy for the Pride, starting with a home doubleheader April 2 against Dean (8-26).

The GNAC schedule, with all dates featuring doubleheaders, kicks off April 6 at Simmons (22-19, 15-9 GNAC), followed by home games April 7 against St. Joseph (23-16, 15-9 GNAC). After a quick non-conference twinbill against Wentworth (11-24) April 10, Regis returns to conference play on three straight days against Rivier (11-29, 6-18 GNAC) April 12, against Emmanuel (25-18, 15-9 GNAC) April 13, and at Lasell (11-26, 10-14 GNAC) April 14.

The Pride will host Gordon (12-23) April 16 before facing defending conference champion Johnson & Wales (32-13, 22-2 GNAC) at home April 18. The final road games of the regular season for Regis take place at Norwich (12-16, 10-14 GNAC) April 20.

Regis is scheduled to close out the regular season with six straight home games, starting with non-conference doubleheaders against Pine Manor (0-24) April 23 and against New England College (17-23) April 24. The Pride host Albertus Magnus (23-17, 14-10 GNAC) April 27 to complete the regular season schedule.

The top eight teams in the final GNAC standings will advance to the conference tournament, starting with the single-elimination first round games involving seeds five through eight April 30. The winners join the top four seeds for the double elimination portion of the tournament, starting with games on May 2 and concluding with the semifinals May 4 and the championship May 5.

Regis is looking to improve upon a 7-25 record in 2018, including a 3-21 mark within the GNAC to finish 12th in the league standings. Tara Petrocelli-McGloin enters her second season as head coach, with Megan Cook joining the program as an assistant coach after a stellar career as a pitcher at Merrimack College.
