Four Pride Players Named NECC Softball All-Conference

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – The New England Collegiate Conference handed out its all-league softball selections on Monday with Regis College pitcher Katie Cuozzo (Lynn, Mass.) named to the first team, Alyssa McKinnon (Rowley, Mass.) and Michaela Nejaime (Sandisfield, Mass.) second team and Allison Calogerro (Medford, Mass.) garnering third team honors.

In earning first-team honors, Cuozzo finished second in the conference with a 2.52 ERA after posting 12 wins on the season. She was also sixth in the league with 67 strikeouts and 14 complete games. She came on during conference play, garnering three NECC weekly honors and posting a stingy 1.70 ERA.

McKinnon was one of three Pride players to hit a homerun this season while also ranking third in runs scored (21). During conference play, the first baseman caught fire finishing tied with Caleggero with a team-high 15 runs and ranking third in batting average at .420. Nejaime had a solid season at second base for the Pride. She played in 28 games while plating nine runs and recording 17 RBI. She also batted a .397 on the season.

Caloggero played every game for the Pride at shortstop. She batted .349 for the season and led the Pride in several categories. She finished tied for the team lead in both runs (26) and doubles (7) and led the team in hits (38), triples (4) and RBI (22.

Regis (17-14) ended a successful 2016 campaign in the final round of the NECC Softball Tournament. The Pride bested Mitchell in the opening round before falling in a tight contest to host Becker then being eliminated by Newbury.
