MCKINNON AND CASELLO EARN ALL-NECC HONORS

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College softball had team had a pair of players named to the New England Collegiate Conference's All-NECC Second Team in Alyssa McKinnon (Raynham, Mass.) and Jenna Casello (Westborough, Mass.). The duo helped lead the Pride (11-20) to within one game of the NECC Championship game this past weekend.

McKinnon finished third in the NECC in batting average at .467 during NECC play and added 21 hits, four doubles, a homerun, eight runs scored, and 15 RBI. Overall, the sophomore placed fourth in the league with a .416 batting average to go with 32 hits and 20 RBI, and her .987 fielding percentage was sixth in the league.

Last week as a part of the NECC Tournament, McKinnon went 7-for-15 (.467) with four RBI and a pair of runs scored as Regis reached the third round of the NECC Tournament for the first time in program history. Her and Katie Cuozzo (Lynn, Mass.) were both named to the All-Tournament Team.

In her first year in the NECC, Jenna Casello batted .364 with 16 hits, 12 runs scored, and five RBI from the lead-off spot. She also led the Pride with four stolen bases during league games. Overall, Casello batted .303 with five stolen bases, 16 runs scored, and 23 hits.

Casello's Second Team selection is the third-straight season a Regis College freshman has been named to one of the All-NECC squads after Kirbie Garvey's (Littleton, Mass.) Second Team selection in 2013, and Sam Bliss' (Framingham, Mass.) Second Team selection and Jill Bruning's (Medford, Mass.) Honorable Mention nod in 2012.
