WESTON, Mass. - The Regis College softball team has earned the No. 7 seed in the upcoming New England Collegiate Conference softball tournament and will take on No. 2 Becker College on Wednesday afternoon in the NECC First Round at 3:00 p.m.
The Pride (9-18) won a tiebreaker with Bay Path College to earn the final seed in the tournament, having split with the Hawks (16-18) earlier in the season, while the Wildcats were swept in a doubleheader on Monday afternoon.
Back on April 8, the Pride dropped a 4-2 decision to the Hawks in game one, before rebounding for a 13-2 win in six innings in game two. Jenna Casello (Westborough, Mass.) went 3-for-5 with three RBI and a pair of runs scored, while Sam Bliss (Framingham, Mass.) tossed six innings and scattered four hits and a pair of earned runs while striking out six.
Lesley University earned the top-seed in the NECC Tournament after going 17-1 in the NECC this year and were awarded a first round bye. No. 3 Mitchell College will host No. 6 Southern Vermont College on Wednesday afternoon, while No. 5 Elms and No. 4 Newbury will clash in the other First Round matchup.
