SOFTBALL FALLS IN FIVE TO MONARCHS

CLERMONT, Fla. – The Regis College softball team fell 15-3 in five innings to Methodist University on a rainy Thursday morning in Clermont, Fla. The Pride's (0-5) second game against Widener was cancelled due to the inclement weather.

Regis gave up five runs in each of the first two innings, putting themselves in a 10-0 hole entering the third inning. The Pride scored three times in the third inning as Alyssa McKinnon (Raynham, Mass.) had an RBI groundout to score Rachel DesRochers (Westford, Mass.) for the first run.

Sam Bliss (Framingham, Mass.) followed with an RBI single to centerfield that scored Jenna Casello (Westborough, Mass.). Shannon Bradish (Lawrence, Mass.) rounded out the scoring, drawing a bases-loaded walk to drive in Rachel Tortora (Malden, Mass.).

The Monarchs would tack on five more runs in their half of the fourth as the Pride bats went quiet over the final two innings, leading to the final score of 15-3.

McKinnon and Bliss had two of the three hits on the day for Regis, while Katie Cuozzo (Lynn, Mass.) had a double in the second inning.

Marissa Magarian (Goffstown, N.H.) suffered the loss for the Pride, allowing 10 runs (four earned), on six hits with five walks. Sam Bliss pitched in relief, giving up the final five runs while striking out four.
