PRIDE SAY FAREWELL TO SENIORS

Weston, Mass.-Senior day is one that is met with an overwhelming amount of happiness, but a sad reality lurks at the end of that day as well. In athletics we celebrate all of our contributors, and it will not be any different Friday when softball recognizes Ashley Paolini (Epping, NH) and Kristen Tavares (Acushnet, Mass.) for their many accomplishments.

The softball team will host Eastern Nazarene College in its last conference match-up of 2009, and will hold a brief ceremony for Paolini and Tavares.

Both are two-sport athletes for Regis College. Paolini has been an all-tournament most valuable player, and named to The Commonwealth Coast Conference All-Conference Honorable Mention team in volleyball. Tavares has been the captain of the field hockey team, and been voted the teams most valuable player during her four years as a goalie.

In softball, Paolini has the highest batting average on the team with a .393, and .420 on base average. Paolini ranks in the top five of seven statistical categories. She is in the top two of five of those categories.

Tavares has served various duties on the softball team. Spending much of her time at pitcher, Tavares has the second best earned run average on the team with a 6.15. She has pitched 87.2 innings, the most of any pitcher this season.

On offense Tavares has registered the second most at bats with 85 in 29 games played. In that time she also has five doubles on the season, and in the top five for most runs scored. Come celebrate with the Pride and cheer on these special athletes.
