NEC ON PILGRIMAGE PAST PRIDE

Weston, Mass.-New England College (10-22, 4-14 TCCC) adds to its two game winning streak with a 11-6 game one victory, and 7-3 game two win over Regis College (3-28, 1-21 TCCC) Thursday evening.

The Prides Kristen Tavares (Acushnet, Mass.) took the mound in game one for Regis College allowing 11 runs. Regis fought hard, tying the game at 6-6 in the third inning.

Caitlin Luquet (Walnut Creek, CA) looked to spark the Pride with a double to centerfield, advancing teammate Ashley Paolini (Epping, NH).

The Pilgrims would rally offensively to explode in the seventh inning, adding its final four runs of the contest. New England's Alexandria Sacco (Tewksbury, Mass.) and Stephaine Freitag (Lakeville, Mass.) would score in the seventh off of an error by the Pride's Shannon Hurley (Billerica, Mass.).

Dee Brayton (Queensbury, NY) would earn an RBI from a single to the outfield. Sierra Thibeault (Brunswick, Maine) would fly out to end the inning and game.

Game Two

Both NEC and Regis would keep it tight through 5 innings, as the score was only one run apart.

The pilgrims would put 2 runs on the board early in the second inning.  Freitag would go 3-4, driving in 2 runs at the head of the lineup.  Sacco would be contributing with the only 2 RBIs for the game. 

Bethany Forshaw (Waterford, CT) would be the winning pitcher, allowing only 5 hits and would strikeout two.  Brayton would be credited for the save, allowing 3 hits and striking out 2. 

Luquet would go 2-3 and contribute the only 2 RBIs for the Pride.  Marssa Allen (Attleboro, MA) would stay on the mound for the entire game, and would strikeout 2.  Allen remains with the lowest ERA on the team.

The Pride will continue to try to add to their win column as they face Eastern Nazarene April 24, 2009 at 6:00 pm, will be the senior night for the seniors. New England College will play home against University of New England April 24, 2009 at 3:00 pm.
