BENJAMIN HITS HOMERUN IN DOUBLEHEADER

Weston, Mass.—Regis College (9-30, 6-16 TCCC) split a doubleheader game versus Curry College (17-18, 12-10 TCCC) Friday evening, winning the first game 6-5, and falling to the Colonels 4-2 in the second game.

The Pride’s Hope Benjamin (Rochester, Mass.) batted in teammate Molly Texeira (Rindge, NH) in the bottom of the seventh inning to break the 5-5 game, and give Regis the win in game one.

Regis scored its five runs in the third inning. Curry remained scoreless until Amanda Felzman (Bellingham, Mass.) reached base on a single, and later scored. Amanda Peters (East Bridgewater, Mass.) scored Curry’s second run, and batted in Felzman.

Down 5-2, Curry tacked on three runs in the seventh to tie the game. Regis pitcher Kendra Abram (Acushnet, Mass.) gave up homeruns to Janelle Mayo (Worcester, Mass.) and Peters. Peters had two homeruns on the day, hitting her second in the fourth inning of game two.

Benjamin had a two-run homerun in the sixth to bring the Pride within one run of the Colonels. Peters, playing pitcher for the Colonels, struck out eight Regis batters during the doubleheader.

The Pride will play its final home game Saturday, April 24 at noon. Regis will host TCCC opponent Wentworth. Curry will host the University of New England at 1:00 p.m.
