REGIS SWEEPS NEC TO IMPROVE IN TCCC STANDINGS

Henniker, N.H. – The Regis College Pride softball team pulled out two wins over New England College Tuesday afternoon winning game one 7-3 and edging the Pilgrims 6-5 in the second game

With the two wins the Pride improve to 7-22 overall and 4-8 in the TCCC.  The losses drop the Pilgrims to 7-17 on the season and 6-8 in the conference.

In game one Regis would plate four runs in four runs on five hits in the third inning and two runs in the fourth inning building a 6-1 lead heading into the fifth.  Regis would tack on a unearned run in the sixth and hold the Pilgrims to just two runs in the home half of the seventh, cruising to the 7-3 victory. 

Regis’ Molly Teixeira (Rindge, N.H.) finished the game with two hits, two runs scored and a run batted in.  Caitlin Luquet (Walnut Creek, Calif.) singled twice and Hope Benjamin (Rochester, Mass.) doubled in two runs for the Pride.

Picking up the win on the mound for Regis was Kendra Abram (Acushnet, Mass.) who pitched seven complete allowing two earned runs on 14 hits.

In game two Regis would come from behind to plate five runs in the top half of the seventh inning to capture the 6-5 victory.

Leading the way for Regis was Shannon Hurley (Billerica, Mass.) who was 2-for-3 at the plate, including a two runs double in the seventh.  Regis’ Stefanie Wozmak (Auburn, N.H.) scored twice for the Pride
