BENJAMIN SLAPS HR VERSUS GOLDEN BEARS

Weston, Mass.—Regis College (1-16, 0-4 TCCC) lost 7-2 and 10-1 in doubleheader action to its conference opponent Western New England College (5-8, 2-0 TCCC) Sunday. The Golden Bears had 13 hits in 31 at bats against the Pride in game two. Regis managed just four hits in 19 at bats.

Regis’ Hope Benjamin (Billerica, Mass.) slapped a screaming homerun over the right-centerfield fence to give Regis its only score of the game. Benjamin would go 1-of-2 at the plate, and tally six putouts defensively.

The Golden Bears Sarah Lempicki (Plantsville, Conn.) had an impressive day, batting 3-of-4 in game two and scoring four runs for Western New England. Seven different Golden Bears tallied hits, Lempicki led the way while Lauren Arsenault (Fitchburg, Mass.) brought in the teams second most runs (2).

Jeana Longo (Schenectady, N.Y.) posted three runs batted in (RBI), while Sara Barnes (Berkley, Mass.) and Christina Farese (Marlborough, Mass.) each contributed two RBIs.

Regis had a tough day offensively. Posting just three runs in two games. Rachel Cavella (West Roxbury, Mass.) and Benjamin scored the Pride’s only two runs in the first game. Regis had 25 appearances, but had only three hits against pitcher Meagan Riemann (Dayville, Conn.).

Riemann pitched seven innings, striking out six batters, committed errors and allowed just two Regis players to reach base on balls. In comparison, Regis pitcher Maryssa Allen (Attleboro, Mass.) gave up eight hits, had six errors, and just four strikeouts.

Regis returns to the diamond Tuesday, March 30 to face The Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Roger Williams. Western New England College will play Amherst College Tuesday at 4:00 PM.
