SOFTBALL PREPARES FOR FIRST GAMES ON NEW FIELDS

Weston, Mass.—Under first-year head coach Lisa LeVierge, Regis College (1-10, 0-2 TCCC) is expected to play its first game on its newly constructed fields Friday, March 26 versus Lesley University in doubleheader action starting at 4:00 p.m. The softball fields were part of a multi-million dollar investment made by the college to upgrade its athletic facilities.

The Pride earned its win by defeating Emmanuel 1-0 while playing in the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Florida. Most recently, Regis dropped a pair of games to The Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent the University of England, 4-3 and 6-0 respectively.

Regis returns 10 players from last season, and added three experienced teammates this season. Of those 10 players, Hope Benjamin, Rachel Cavella, and Caitlin Luquet (Walnut Creek, Calif.) were named All-TCCC Honorable Mention selections. Luquet was named TCCC Rookie of the Year.

Regis has the potential to turn things around. With the remainder of its season’s games being doubleheaders, the Pride could split a few games with some talented conference programs.

Should Regis not play Friday, it will host Newbury College at noon Saturday, March 27.
