WOZMAK HAS RUN SCORING TRIPLE VERSUS UNE

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Junior Amber Zablowsky (Rochester, Mass.) pitched a two-hit shutout as the University of New England completed a The Commonwealth Coast Conference doubleheader sweep with a 6-0 victory over Regis College on Thursday afternoon at Claude Dubois Field.

Senior Jenn Waldecker (Hooksett, N.H.) went 3-for-3 with two runs batted in to lead the Nor'easters to a 4-3 win in the opener.

Zablowsky surrendered a pair of singles and hit one batter in upping her record to 4-1. She struck out six and induced 11 groundball outs.

The Nor'easters broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the bottom of the fifth of the nightcap. Sophomore Liz Kelly (Hollis, N.H.) had an RBI single, and sophomore Maegen Johnson (Standish, Maine) and senior Lauren Webb (Jericho, Vt.) scored runs with infield grounders.

UNE would add three more runs in the home half of the sixth, one coming on a triple to right by first-year Erin Grover (Biddeford, Maine) -- her second extra-base hit of the contest.

The opening game saw the Nor'easters open up a 4-0 lead and hold off the Pride in the late stages.

UNE scored twice in the third when Waldecker produced a two-out, bases-loaded single up the middle. The Nor'easters added a pair of runs in the fourth on a triple by senior Julie Monteiro (Portsmouth, R.I.) and a squeeze bunt by Johnson.

Regis struck for three runs in the top of the sixth to close the gap. Sophomore Stefanie Wozmak (Auburn, N.H.) had a run-scoring triple and later scored on an infield out off the bat of junior Amanda Carlson (Ayer, Mass.). Sophomore Caitlin Luquet (Walnut Creek, Calif.) accounted for the third run with an RBI single.

Sophomore Erin Lyons (Salem, N.H.) earned the win for the Nor'easters. She worked her way around 10 hits to up her record to 3-2.

Offensively, Webb and senior Angie Damon (Scarborough, Maine) each had a pair of hits.

Wozmak was 3-for-3 for Regis (1-10, 0-2 TCCC), which hosts Newbury College for a doubleheader Saturday beginning at noon.

UNE (7-3, 2-0) heads to Roger Williams University that same day for a TCCC twinbill starting at 12:00 p.m.
