Men’s Cross Country Places Fourth at GNAC Championships

STANDISH, Maine – The Regis College men's cross country team finished fourth for the third consecutive year at the 2023 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Cross Country Championships, hosted Saturday by Saint Joseph's College.

Benjamin Happenny (Woonsocket, R.I.) extended his three-year streak of crossing the finish line first among Regis competitors to 20 meets, earning Second Team All-GNAC honors with a 10th place finish over the eight-kilometer course in 30:25.9. Zach Sigman (Buffalo, N.Y.) also picked up Second Team All-GNAC recognition as he finished 12th in 30:45.6.

Just one week after completing the soccer season, Riley Stogsdill (San Diego, Calif.) finished in 29th place in his first collegiate cross country competition with a time of 32:39.4. Chris Margiatto (Suffield, Conn.) ended up in 51st place with a time of 36:17.9.

Ezekial Kimani (Auburn, Mass.) crossed the finish line in 53rd place with a time of 36:21.8, just ahead of Kederson Pierre (Everett, Mass.) in 55th place with a time of 36:57.7, two seconds faster than his previous best eight-kilometer time this season.

As a team, Regis finished in fourth place overall with 120 points, 10 points ahead of fifth place Lasell. Saint Joseph's College placed three runners within the top eight, including individual champion Jacob Pelletier (27:54.7), to win the team title with 44 points, followed by Norwich with 55 points and Colby-Sawyer with 64 points.

Regis College will wrap up the 2023 season at the NCAA Division III East Regional Championship, now to be held at the Hopkinton Fairgrounds in Hopkinton, N.H., next Saturday, Nov. 11.
