Pride Cross Country Competes at Keene State Invitational

KEENE, N.H. - The Regis cross country team traveled north Saturday to compete at the Keene State Invitational at the Owl Athletic Complex.

Among a field of over 230 runners, junior Benjamin Happenny (Woonsocket, R.I.) finished first among the Regis men and 84th overall with an eight-kilometer time of 28:41.6. Zach Sigman (Buffalo, N.Y.) posted a personal-best eight-kilometer time of 28:50.5 as he crossed the finish line in 88th place overall.

For the second straight week, Chris Margiatto (Suffield, Conn.) posted a new personal-best eight-kilometer time, completing the course in 36:00.9, almost a full minute faster than his mark just last week. Kederson Pierre (Everett, Mass.) also improved on his time from the previous meet, cutting almost five minutes off his time from last week at 36:59.6.

On the women's side, Elizabeth Stevenson (Scituate, Mass.) again led the Pride, completing the five-kilometer course in a personal-best time of 22:14.4, over three seconds faster than her time at this exact event last year. Libby Parker (Bow, N.H.) was next for the Pride with a time of 22:37.7, followed by Olivia Rosano (Methuen, Mass.) with a time of 23:55.9, 40 seconds quicker than her previous best five-kilometer time this season.

Annabelle Jean-Philippe (Randolph, Mass.) finished the five-kilometer course in 24:02.0, followed by Katie Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) with a time of 24:38.2. As a team, the Regis women finished in 19th place with 491 points, ahead of GNAC rivals Emmanuel College and New England College.

The Regis College cross country team will have close to two weeks to prepare for the Bruce Kirsh Cup, hosted Friday, Oct. 13, by Franklin Pierce University at the Hopkinton Fairgrounds in Hopkinton, N.H. The women's race is scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m., followed by the men's event at 3:30 p.m.
