REGIS GRABS SECOND PLACE, MCCALL NAMED TOP ROOKIE

WESTFIELD, Mass. - The Regis College men's cross country team placed second at the New England Collegiate Conference Championships on Saturday afternoon at Stanley Park in Westfield, Mass.

Freshman Stephen McCall (Brockton, Mass.) led the Pride with a fourth place finish (28:14.02) and was named the NECC Rookie of the Year as well as an All-Conference First Team selection.

Shane Romanchick (Trumbull, Conn.), Jonathan Paul (Medford, Mass.), and Sam Mildrum (Hingham, Mass.) were all named to the All-NECC Second Team, coming in 8th place, 9th place, and 10th place, respectively. Romanchick finished the 8k race in 28:47.12, with Paul right behind him at 28:47.60, and Mildrum following them at 29:10.40.

Jonathan Paul was also named to the All-NECC Sportsmanship Team.

Matt Norton (Weymouth, Mass.) finished just outside the top-10 with a time of 29:11.58, while Jordan Dash (Orleans, Mass.) finished 16th at 31:09.41.

Southern Vermont College repeated as NECC Champions as Marc Brandmeyer was named the NECC Runner of the Year, highlighting three top-10 finishes for the Mountaineers. SVC's coach Kathleen Newton was named the conference's Coach of the Year.

Elms College finished in third place followed by Wheelock, Lesley, Newbury, Mitchell, and Daniel Webster.
