CROSS COUNTRY COMPETES AT ROGER WILLIAMS INVITE

BRISTOL R.I. - The Regis College men's and women's cross country teams opened their season today when they competed in the Roger Williams Invitational at Colt State Park in Bristol, R.I. The men's team placed 11th overall while the women placed 14th overall.

The men were led by freshmen Stephen McCall (Brockton, Mass.) and Shane Romanchick (Trumbull, Conn.) who both bested the previous 5k cross country school record. McCall placed 33rd overall with a time of 17:27 while Romanchick finished 53rd in 17:56. Sophomore Sam Mildrum (Hingham, Mass.) crossed the line in 18:57 for 85th place. Captains Matt Norton (Weymouth, Mass.) and Jonathan Paul (Medford, Mass.) rounded out the scoring running 19:17 and 19:19 for 94th and 97th place, respectively.

The women were led by freshman Andrea O'Hearn (Pelham, N.H.) who completed the 5000 meter course in 22:21 and placed 73rd overall in her college debut. Closely behind O'Hearn was junior Siobhan McLaughlin (Derry, N.H.) and sophomore Molly Curtin (Brockton, Mass.) who finished the race in 22:29 and 22:49. Rounding out the scoring for the Pride was junior Nicole Church (Apex, N.C.) who finished the race in 26:42 and senior Rachel Wood (Manchester, N.H.) who had a time of 26:43.

The Pride return to action on September 19th for the UMass Dartmouth Invitational with start time slated for 10:00 a.m.
