NORTON & MCLAUGHLIN EARN NECC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK DISTINCTION

WESTON, Mass. – The freshmen duo of Matt Norton (Weymouth, Mass.) and Siobhan McLaughlin (Derry, N.H.), members of the Regis College cross country teams, have been named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookies of the Week. This is the sixth time this season that Norton has been named Rookie of the Week, while Siobhan earns her seventh Rookie of the Week honor this year.

Norton was the fifth place individual finisher at the NECC Championships on Saturday after running the 8k trail at Stanley Park in 29:17. The freshman claimed NECC Rookie of the Year distinction after placing first among all freshmen at the meet and helped the Pride men earn a fourth place team finish.

McLaughlin was the third place individual finisher at the NECC Championships, running the 5k trail at Stanley Park in 20:26.29. The first year claimed NECC Rookie of the Year distinction after placing first among all freshmen at the meet and helped the Pride women earn a third place team finish.

Regis will compete next at the ECAC Championships at Colt State Park on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 10 a.m.
