CROSS COUNTRY DUO EARN NECC WEEKLY HONORS

WESTON, Mass. – A pair of Regis College cross country freshmen have been named New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookies of the Week, as announced by the league's offices earlier this week. Matt Norton (Weymouth, Mass.) of the men's team picks up his fourth Rookie of the Week honor this season, while Siobhan McLaughlin (Derry, N.H.) of the women's team earns her fifth Rookie of the Week honor of the year.

Norton helped lead the Pride to a 29th place finish out of 34 teams on Saturday at the James Earley Invitational at Westfield State University. Individually, Norton took home a 158th place finish out of 347 total runners after completing the 8k course in 29:38.

McLaughlin broke a Regis College school record after crossing the finish line of the 5k course in 19:56. She took 23rd place out of 361 runners and helped the Pride capture a 28th place team finish.

Norton, McLaughlin, and the Regis College cross country teams next compete at the Saints Invitational at Franklin Park this Friday. Races are scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
