WESTON, Mass. – Freshman Matt Norton (Weymouth, Mass.) of the Regis College men's cross country team has been named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the conference's offices on Monday.

Competing in his first collegiate race, Norton helped the Pride capture a fourth place finish at the Daniel Webster Invitational on Friday afternoon. He was the top finisher for Regis after completing the 8k course in 31:15, which was also good enough for an eighth place finish out of 54 total runners.

Norton and the Pride will next compete at the Pop Crowell Invitational at Gordon College on Saturday, Sept. 21. The race is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.
