LEXINGTON, Ky. - Regis College senior Marcello Cappuccio (Scotch Plains, N.J.) continues to add to his award collection, as he has been selected to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Northeast Region Team, announced Tuesday, April 18, by the national organization.

Cappuccio is the first player in the history of the Regis College men's volleyball program to receive AVCA All-Region honors. He is one of five players from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) on the All-Northeast Region team along with Sam Etter and Hunter Oshman of conference champion Wentworth as well as Jesus Garcia and Jordan Shinault of Lasell.

The 2023 GNAC Libero of the Year and First Team All-GNAC honoree, Cappuccio became the first Regis men's volleyball player to collect at least 300 digs in a single season, finishing with a school-record 311 digs. He is currently eighth in Division III in digs per set at 3.24, surpassing the previous Pride single season record by 0.77 digs per set.

Named GNAC Defensive Player of the Week three times this past season, Cappuccio earned 10 or more digs in 15 matches this year, setting the Regis single-match digs record with 27 digs in a five-set victory at Emerson Feb. 2. He moved into second place on the Regis career digs list with 605 digs and into seventh place on the program's matches played list with 72 career matches.

Cappuccio, a two-time Academic All-GNAC honoree, is on track to receive his bachelor's degree in sport management next month, plus he is minoring in athletic coaching and business management. He is now eligible for selection to one of the AVCA Division III All-America teams, which will be announced next Tuesday, April 25.

Regis College ended the 2023 season with a 12-17 overall record, including a 7-9 GNAC mark to finish sixth in the conference standings and qualify for the GNAC Tournament for the second straight year.
