Cappuccio and Bucasas Earn GNAC Weekly Honors

WINTHROP, Mass. - For the first time this season, Marcello Cappuccio (Scotch Plains, N.J.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Defensive Player of the Week while Tyrell Bucasas (Waialua, Hawaii) earns GNAC Setter of the Week as announced Monday, February 6, by the league office.

Cappuccio made history last week while helping Regis earn its first conference victory of the season, after collecting a match-high 10 digs and making just one reception error last Tuesday against Nichols, he set the Pride single-match digs record with 27 digs in Regis's five-set victory over Emerson. This makes Cappuccio's third consecutive match with double-digit digs as he averaged 4.63 per set on the week.

After collecting 21 assists and six digs last Tuesday against Nichols, Bucasas finished with career-high totals across the board in Thursday's five-set victory over Emerson, collecting 44 assists, nine digs, and five kills on seven attack attempts for a .714 hitting percentage. The 44 assists are tied for the eighth-most in a single match in program history.

Regis College (2-5, 1-2 GNAC) returns to action Saturday, Feb. 11, for a tri-match hosted by Russell Sage College. The Pride will face Bard at 2 p.m. and the host Gators at 4 p.m.
