Men’s Volleyball Tops NJCU, Completes Tri-Match Sweep

WESTON, Mass.Wade Robidoux (Agawam, Mass.) and Sean Bisnett (Oxnard, Calif.) shared match-high honors with 10 kills apiece and the Regis (Mass.) men's volleyball team swept New Jersey City University to close out back-to-back tri-match wins Saturday at Higgins Court. Set scores were 25-15, 25-9, 25-17.

It was a dominant showing by the Pride (3-4) who hit at a .426 clip while allowing just 18 total kills from the Gothic Knights. Robidoux recorded just one error on the match and hit a match-high .750.

Julian Moreira (Miami, Fla.) led NJCU (0-4) with seven kills with Jimmy Vega (Harrison, N.J.) posting four digs.

Set one saw the Pride finish a tight set on a 13-5 run to win going away. Bisnett drilled a pair of kills in the run to give his team the one-set lead. Regis led from the get-go in its impressive 25-9 set two win. A trio of Marcos Aguirre (Norwalk, Calif.) kills helped the Pride build a 7-4 lead, then back-to-back kills from Robidoux extended the advantage to 13-6. Drew Beimel (Redondo Beach, Calif.) won the final five points off his serve which included a pair Brett Krahl (Santa Clarita, Calif.) kills.

In similar fashion to the opening set, the Pride separated itself from a tight contest and raced to the win. Back-to-back aces from Robidoux gave the Pride a 17-11 lead, then Bisnett drilled the final two kills of the match to seal the win.

The Pride return to action Tuesday, Feb. 7 hosting Wentworth at 7:00 p.m. NJCU plays host to Cairn University on the same date and time.
