PRIDE PROJECTED FOR SECOND PLACE FINISH

NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Fresh off their first trip to the New England Collegiate Conference Championship game, the Regis College men's volleyball team was selected for a second place finish in the NECC Men's Volleyball coaches poll, it was announced Friday afternoon.

Regis earned 40 points and one first place vote which was good enough for the second spot in the preseason poll.

Last season, the Crimson and Gold earned the No. 3 seed in the NECC Tournament after going 7-5 in the regular season. No. 3 Regis upset No. 2 Southern Vermont College in a five set thriller (14-25, 25-19, 29-27, 18-25, 15-13) in the NECC Semifinals, for the first postseason win in program history, but fell to No. 1 seed Endicott College in the NECC Championship game.

Three-time NECC Champion Endicott snagged six of a possible seven first place votes on the way to the top spot in the preseason poll. Behind Regis in third was Newbury College who earned 33 points, Elms College followed the Nighthawks with 29 points and Daniel Webster, Southern Vermont and Lesley rounded out the poll.

The Pride open their 2016 campaign when they travel to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on Thursday, January 21st in Boston at 7:00 p.m.
