REGIS SPLITS TRI-MATCH WITH JWU & GATORS

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Regis College men's volleyball team split a tri-match on Saturday afternoon, picking up a 3-0 win over Sage before falling to the host Johnson and Wales University, 3-0.

The Pride wrapped up the day at 5-14 overall and return to New England Collegiate Conference action on Tuesday night when they host Elms College at 7:00 p.m.

Freshman Marcos Aguirre (Norwalk, Calif.) led the way for Regis in the win over Sage, notching 11 kills with four blocks and two digs. Freshman Ryan Husher (Camarillo, Calif.) notched 31 set assists, seven kills and three blocks in the win for the Pride. Brett Krahl joined Aguirre in double-figure kills with 10 on the day and added five blocks.

Freshman Bailey Cecchi (Agawam, Mass.) paced Sage with 12 kills and four digs while Tyler Bastos (Ludlow, Mass.) notched 20 set assists and five kills in the setback.

Against Johnson and Wales, Aguirre added five more kills, while Brett Krahl () and Josiah Roque (Oxnard, Calif.) also added five kills. Ryan Conte (Oxnard, Calif.) chipped in four kills and four digs, with Husher dishing out 18 more assists.

Brendan Baker (Providence, R.I.) paced JWU with 12 kills, four digs and six blocks while junior Ryan Kennedy (West Barnstable, Mass.) notched seven kills, seven digs and a block for the Wildcats. Senior J.J. Bessette (Coventry, R.I.) recorded 22 set assists, six digs and three blocks while senior Don Dias (Scituate, R.I.) had 10 digs and five kills in the victory.
