LIONS CLAW PAST PRIDE, 3-0

BOSTON, Mass. – The Regis College men's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Emerson College on Thursday night in non-conference men's volleyball action. The Pride fall to 2-9 on the year, while Emerson improves to 7-4.

During the first set, both teams remained extremely close. In the beginning of the set, both teams traded points and were tied at 8-8, until Emerson pulled away with a 5 point streak raising the score to 13-8. Emerson boasted 12 kills and only 2 errors overall in the set against Regis's 8 kills and 7 errors. Emerson won the set 25-17.

Emerson widened the gap in the second set with a final score of 25-16. Despite the score, Regis played competitive set while the Lions errors increased.

The third set was the closest of them all, ending with a score of 25-20. Although Emerson was able to maintain their lead throughout the set, Regis kept it close early on. The Lion's increased their lead to 21-13 thanks to efforts from Connor Burton, but Regis wasn't about to go down without a fight. Jon Fuentes (Downey, Calif.) of Regis scored a kill late in the set in an effort to extend the match, but ultimately Emerson's lead proved too much.

Emerson junior Jackson Wiley led the Lions, with a match-high nine kills. Marcos Aguirre (Norwalk, Calif.) led the Pride with six kills, while Josiah Roque (Oxnard, Calif.) added four kills and five digs.

The Pride return to action on Saturday when they travel to Emmanuel College for a 4:00 p.m. match with the Saints.
