CARROLL'S SIX KILLS NOT ENOUGH AS PRIDE FALLS TO LASERS 3-0

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College men's volleyball team was defeated by Lasell College Wednesday night by the score of 3-0 (25-12, 25-9, 25-18). The victory moves Lasell to 6-5 on the season, while the Pride moves to 1-9 overall on the season.

The Lasers used a combination of quality serving, collecting 11 aces, and a balanced offensive attack to defeat Regis. Junior Alex Mill (Danville, N.H.) paced the Lasell attack with eight kills, while Tim Anderson (Plaistow, N.H.) added seven kills, Matt Dionne (Danville, N.H.) tallied six kills and Abdulrehman Khan (Karachi, Pakistan) chipped in with 5 kills and three blocks.  

The Pride was led on offense by Andrew Carroll (Natick, Mass.) who had a team high six kills on the match. Freshman David Amicangioli (Belmont, Mass.) chipped in with nine assists and two kills to help the Pride's attack.

The opening set was close early, with the squads tied at 5-5, before Lasell scored 13 of the next 15 points to open up an 18-7 lead en-route to a 25-12 win. The second set was almost identical, when Lasell again broke open a 5-5 tie by scoring 14 of 16 points to take command, before closing out the Pride 25-9.

Regis battled back in the third set, jumping out to a 9-5 lead and getting three kills from Carroll in the early going. The Lasers drew even at 9-9, and the teams traded the lead back and forth until the third set was tied at 16-16. Lasell went on a 5-0 run to take a 21-16 lead, and following a Regis timeout the visitor's tallied two straight points to cut the deficit to 21-18. Lasell responded, getting kills from Tim Anderson and David Farwell (Agawam, Mass.) to close out the set and the match.

Lasell will host #15 Emmanuel College on Thursday March 1st, at 7:00 p.m., when they will be looking to collect their third straight win and fifth in their last six matches. Regis will return home to host Southern Vermont College in an NECC matchup on March 1st at 7:00 p.m.
