PRIDE FALLS TO SVC IN SEASON OPENER

BENNINGTON, Vt. – The Regis College men's volleyball team opened its 2012 campaign with a 3-0 setback to Southern Vermont College on Thursday night in New England Collegiate Conference action. The Pride falls to 0-1 on the young year and 0-1 in league play while the Mountaineers improve to 1-4 and 1-0 in the NECC.

The Mountaineers used set scored of 25-11, 25-9, 25-12 to defeat the Pride.

Andrew Carroll (Natick, Mass.) and Drew Wilder (Brockton, Mass.) paced the Pride with three kills apiece. David Amicangioli (Arlington, Mass.) had five assists while Carroll also had five digs.

Connor Murray, Joseph Dighton and Corey Mills led the Mountaineers on offense. Murray hit for an .833 hitting percentage while Dighton and Mills connected for eight kills apiece. Southern Vermont career assist leader Anthony Ayala had 14 assists and Herson Canta had 13. Senior libero Nick Haggerty led the defense with 15 digs.

The Pride continues the search for its first win of the season on Saturday afternoon when the Crimson and Gold host Emerson College in a 12:00 p.m. match.
