Steven Baum has been involved with tennis since he began playing at the age of 8 years old. He played four years at Fallston High School on the men's varsity team at #1 doubles, and competed in two state tournaments during his junior and senior year. After graduating from Fallston, he continued playing tennis at Division III Goucher College where he played #1 doubles and singles for the Gophers. While at Goucher, he also competed on the men's Swimming and Diving Team for four years, and played a season for the men's Soccer team as goalie during the fall of 2011.

Coach Baum graduated from Goucher in December 2011 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. He studied abroad at Macquarie University, Sydney Australia, from July 2010-December 2010. Soon after graduation, Steven began volunteer coaching for Goucher's men's and women's tennis teams, as well as for the Stevenson University's men's and women's tennis programs in February 2012. During the 2012 spring season, he was an Assistant coach for the boy's varsity team at Beth Tfiloh Dahan Community School. Coach Baum is also a USTA (U.S. Tennis Association) Certified Official.

While at Goucher, Steven was a part of the college's independent student newspaper, The Quindecium, where he wrote multiple articles on all sports at Goucher, covering pre and post season write ups, as well as game overviews, and player/coach interviews. He was a member of Gophers for Goucher, a group that works toward raising money from current students and alum through events such as, phone-a-thons and Senior Gift Campaign.

Steven is the son of Michael and Sally Baum, who are the proud parents of four boys, Steven being the youngest, all of whom play tennis. Coach Baum will be enrolled in the Regis Master's program in Communication.
