WESTON, Mass. - The Regis (Mass.) men's tennis team celebrated Senior Day in style on Tuesday, defeating Salem State 7-2 in non-conference action at the Regis Tennis Center.

With the win, the Pride improves to 13-5 on the season, while the Vikings remain winless at 0-8 on the year.

Before the match, the Pride honored seniors Nick Hildreth (Harvard, Mass.), Jeremy Morgenbesser (Bayport, N.Y.) and Jarid Polley (North Reading, Mass.). Head coach John Ciarleglio spoke about each player, taling about the highlights of each player's four-year career at Regis.

Once play got under way, the Pride jumped out to an early lead in doubles play. Regis won all three matches, led at first doubles by sophomore Luke Horton (Bass Harbor, Maine) and Nolan Bebarta (Danville, Calif.). The duo won 8-4, which was followed at number two doubles by a tie-break win from Polley and freshman Kyle Dugat (Houston, Texas). The Pride won by walkover at third doubles.

The match was clinched in singles play when junior Chris Harrow (North Reading, Mass.) beat Salem State's Matt Mogren (Newburyport, Mass.) 6-0, 6-1 to help the Pride maintain its perfect record in the spring season. 

Salem State's two points came at third and fifth singles. At third singles, freshman Mitchell Dyer (North Attleboro, Mass.) rallied from a 7-4 deficit in the tie break to defeat Polley 3-6, 6-2, 12-10. The loss kept Polley from breaking the all-time Regis record in singles wins, as he stays in a tie with 55 for his career. The Vikings' Noah Hodgkins (Winthrop, Mass.) picked up a victory in a tie break at No. 5 singles as well, beating the Pride's Morgenbesser.

The Pride has a quick turnaround, as they will return to action for a road matchup against Lesley tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m. Salem State will be off Tuesday before they seek their first win by hosting Suffolk on Thursday afternoon.
