Polley Hits Another Milestone, Pride Wins Big Over Becker

WESTON, Mass. - For the second consecutive match, senior Jarid Polley (North Reading, Mass.) of the Regis (Mass.) men's tennis team made program history on Wednesday afternoon, leading his team to its ninth straight win, beating Becker 9-0 at Regis Tennis Center.

With the win, the Pride improves to 11-5 (3-0 New England Collegiate Conference) on the season, while the Hawks fall to 2-2 (2-1 NECC).

Polley's 8-1 win with teammate Kyle Dugat (Houston, Texas) at third doubles tied the senior for most individual doubles wins in program history at 53, tying him with Michael Beluch from the Class of 2015. Earlier this week, Polley matched Beluch in all-time singles wins as well, leaving the senior tied for the program lead in both, as he was rested in singles play on Wednesday.

Polley and Dugat were one of three Pride doubles teams to start off the afternoon on the right foot, as Chris Harrow (North Reading, Mass.) and Gabriel Montealegre (Managua, Nicaragua) prevailed over Aaron Peterson (San Diego, Calif.) and reigning NECC Player of the Week Throngpol Chinpanjapol (Barre, Mass.) at first doubles 8-1 and Luke Horton (Bass Harbor, Maine) and Nolan Bebarta (Danville, Calif.) swept Becker's Thomas Lanphear (Manchester, Maine) and Edward Seol (Olympia, Wash.) 8-0.

The dominance continued as singles play began, and the Pride clinched the victory at sixth singles, where senior Jeremy Morgenbesser (Bayport, N.Y.) downed Christopher Negus (Mansfield, Mass.) 6-0, 6-0.

Regis will return to action on Sunday against the same Hawks with a Sunday morning match in Leicester at 11:00 a.m. The Hawks return to the courts the day before, hosting Lesley in its home opener at 1:00 p.m.
