Men's Tennis Starts Strong, Finishes Off Northwestern-St. Paul, 7-2

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Regis (Mass.) men's tennis team won for the second time in as many days, moving to 2-0 on the trip with a 7-2 win over the University of Northwestern-St. Paul, Tuesday at the USTA Tennis Center.

The Pride got off to hot start in doubles play on all three courts, winning on the No. 1 and No. 2 courts to carry a one-point lead heading into singles play. The pairs of Chris Harrow (North Reading, Mass.) and Gabriel Montealegre (Managua, Nicaragua), and Luke Horton (Bass Harbor, Maine) and Nolan Bebarta (Danville, Calif.) helped the Pride to the early lead.

Regis cruised through singles play with Evan Russell (East Wareham, Mass.) beating Turner Main (Kewaunee, Wisc.) on the six court 6-1, 7-6 (2) for the match-clinching win. Harrow and Horton won at the one and three, respectively, and Bebarta and Jarid Polley (North Reading, Mass.) winning third-set tiebreakers for the sixth and seventh points to complete the scoring.

The Pride men and women take the court tonight against Penn State-Berks at 7:30 p.m. UNW (3-9) faces Rhodes College Wednesday, Mar. 8.
