Men’s Tennis Dominates King’s College In Spring Opener

LAKELAND, Fla. – The Regis (Mass.) men's tennis team served up the spring season with a rousing 9-0 win over King's College. Regis improves to 4-5 with King's falling to 2-2.

Gabriel Montealegre (Managua, Nicaragua), suiting up for his first competition in a Pride uniform, paired up to win a tight first doubles match with Chris Harrow (North Reading, Mass.), 9-7, over the Monarch tandem of Nate Carl (Hummelstown, Pa.) and Tyler Millan (Huntingdon Valley, Pa.). Montealegre won another tight match in two singles, again over Millan, 7-6 (3), 2-6, 10-7.

Luke Horton (Bass Harbor, Maine) and Nolan Bebarta (Danville, Calif.), and Jarid Polley (North Reading, Mass.) and Kyle Dugat (Houston, Texas) both won their two and three doubles matches, respectively, 8-4.

After Bebarta swept Josh Mesaris (Pittston, Pa.) at the four, 6-4, 6-1, Polley clinched the victory for the Pride with an impressive 6-1, 6-0 win on the five court.

Horton and Cam Charbonneau (Guilford, Conn.) swept their matches on their three and six singles courts with Harrow topping Carl at first singles 7-6 (3), 6-3.

Regis hits the court for two matches Tuesday against Northwestern (Minn.) and Penn State-Berks with the Monarchs facing Judson University tomorrow as well.
