Pride Men's Tennis Swept by Gordon

WESTON, Mass. - The Regis (Mass.) men's tennis team was overwhelmed by Gordon College on Monday afternoon, falling to the Fighting Scots by a score of 9-0.

With the loss, the Pride falls to 2-5 on the fall season, while Gordon improves to 3-1 with its third consecutive win.

The Fighting Scots got out to a flying start by taking care of the Pride in all three doubles matches. The tightest match of the day was at second doubles, where Luke Horton (Bass Harbor, Maine) and Kyle Dugat (Houston, Texas) of the Pride battled to keep the score close to the end. After trailing 6-3, the duo battled back to even the match at 6-6 against Jonathan Frink (La Crescenta, Calif.) and Peter Godwin (Manchester, Conn.), but couldn't complete the comeback, falling 8-6.

The Fighting Scots continued to roll once singles play started to close out their victory. The clinching match came at No. 2 singles, where Gordon's Nate Lookwhy (Westborough, Mass.) downed Horton 6-1, 6-1.

Next up for the Pride, they will close out their fall season on Saturday morning against the visitors for Wentworth. Gordon returns to action next Monday afternoon, when they travel to Assumption.
