WESTON, Mass. - The Regis (Mass.) men's tennis team earned its first win of the 2016-17 season on Sunday morning as it downed the UMass Dartmouth Corsairs by a final of 9-0.

With the win, the Pride improves to 1-2 on the young season, while the Corsairs drop to 0-1.

The Pride got off to a hot start in doubles play, picking up all three available points. At No. 1 doubles, the Regis duo of Chris Harrow (North Reading, Mass.) and Matt Quattrociocchi (Germantown, Md.) picked up the victory over UMass Dartmouth's Corey Rafter and Anthony Joseph in a hard-fought 8-4 final. Jarid Polley (North Reading, Mass.) and Nolan Bebarta (Danville, Calif.) soared to an 8-0 win over Summer Forest-Bulley and Patrick Pacheco at second doubles, while it was Luke Horton (Bass Harbor, Maine) and Kyle Dugat (Houston, Texas) who picked up the win at No. 3 doubles, beating Trent Butler and Justin Torres 8-1.

The Pride continued to roll once singles play began, on its way to securing the home-opening win. After Polley cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Forest in No. 3 singles, sophomore Cam Charbonneau (Guilford, Conn.) sealed the match at fourth singles for the Pride, topping Pacheco 6-3, 6-1.

In other singles action, Harrow topped Rafter 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, Bebarta beat Joseph 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2, Nick Hildreth (Harvard, Mass.) topped Butler 6-4, 6-2 at No. 5, and Regis freshman Evan Russell (East Wareham, Mass.) beat Torres 6-2, 6-2 at sixth singles.

The Pride returns to the courts right away, as they host Johnson & Wales this afternoon in the second half of a double header at 3:00 p.m. The Corsairs are back in action on Monday night, when they travel to Eastern Nazarene to take on the Lions.
