Pride Men's Tennis Falls to Division II Franklin Pierce

RINDGE, N.H. – The Regis (Mass.) men's tennis team picked up wins at third doubles and sixth singles on Friday afternoon, but Franklin Pierce University took care of business in the other matches, rolling to a 7-2 win at home in non-conference action.

With the win, Franklin Pierce improves to 1-1, while Regis falls to 0-2.

Pride freshman Evan Russell (East Wareham, Mass.) picked up the lone Regis win in singles play, downing Dan Longtin (Eliot, Maine) 9-8 (7-4). In doubles, it was Jarid Polley (North Reading, Mass.) and Kyle Dugat (Houston, Texas) who picked up the win for the Pride 8-4.

At first doubles, James Bisazza (West Barnstable, Mass.) teamed with freshman Yuval Barak (Zicron Ya'akov, Israel) to post an 8-6 win over Regis juniors Chris Harrow (North Reading, Mass.) and Matt Quattrociocchi (Germantown, Md.). Later, Bisazza took care of Harrow at first singles, 6-3, 6-0. Meanwhile, at second singles, Barak posted a 6-2, 6-1 win over sophomore Luke Horton.

Franklin Pierce's second doubles team was successful throughout the day as well, as sophomores Andrew Schadt (Tolland, Conn.) and Marcus Lawrence (Acton, Mass.) notched an 8-3 win over Horton and freshman Nolan Bebarta (Danville, Conn.). Later, in singles play, Schadt got locked in a three-set match with Bebarta at third singles, with Schadt ultimately prevailing, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2. At fourth singles, it was a 7-5, 6-2 win for Lawrence over Quattrociocchi.

Rounding out the scoring on the day for Franklin Pierce was an 8-3 win at fifth singles for junior Olivier Viel (Quebec City, Quebec) over senior Jeremy Morgenbesser.

The Ravens return to the court on Friday, Sept. 30, when they travel to NYIT in Old Westbury, N.Y., for the ITA Regional. The Pride return to action on Sept. 25 when they host a doubleheader with Johnson & Wales and UMass.-Dartmouth.
