BELUCH NAMED NECC SENIOR STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE YEAR

WESTON, Mass. - Senior men's tennis player Michael Beluch (Lynn, Mass.) has been named the New England Collegiate Conference Senior Student Athlete of the Year, it was announced on Tuesday. Beluch, a four year captain of the men's tennis team, graduated this past May with a degree in Biology.

Beluch becomes the second student-athlete to the win the award since Regis joined the NECC in 2011 after Kara Donovan won the honor in 2013. Voting was conducted amongst the league's Athletic Directors and was based on a student-athlete's commitment to athletics and academics, while also accounting for leadership and community service roles during the athlete's time at the institution.

"Mike deserves this award and every award he's been given during his four years at Regis," said head men's and women's tennis coach John Ciarleglio. "He is an exceptional person as well as an excellent tennis player. I have no doubt that his successes will continue as he moves forward from Regis!"

During his four years at Regis, Beluch helped lead the men's tennis team to four NECC Tournament Finals appearances, and the last three NECC Championships. He was an All-NECC First Team selection at both singles and doubles play for all four years, as well as the NECC Player of the Year four times. In his freshman year, Beluch was also named the NECC Rookie of the Year.

The Pride posted a 57-26 overall mark during his time at Regis and have gone 37-1 in the NECC. Playing No. 1 singles his entire career, he went 55-24 overall and 35-1 in conference matches. At No. 1 doubles, he went 53-28 and 36-1 against NECC opponents.

Off the court, Beluch has served as a Peer-to-Peer tutor for four years. He also has served on the Regis Honors Society, and was previously the Senior Officer of that program. He is in the Regis Biology Honors Society, and Roman Catholic Honor Society. Beluch has also volunteered his time at the Relay for Life and with the Boston Lobsters. He was also a three-time Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar Athlete as well as NECC All-Academic Team selection.

Beluch was named Regis' Outstanding Junior Male Athlete of the Year last season, and this year took home the 2015 Male Regis-Casserly Award, the highest honor a student-athlete can attain at the college.
