PRIDE SWEEP WILDCATS, 9-0

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College men's tennis team defeated Wheelock College 9-0 on Wednesday night at the Longfellow Tennis Club in Wayland, Mass. The win pushes the Pride above .500 at 7-6 and the loss was the Wildcats first of the season.

Regis was dominant the whole match as they swept through doubles and singles play. The Crimson and Gold only lost one set during doubles play at No. 1 doubles but then swept through all three pairings.

The duos of Michael Beluch (Lynn, Mass.)/Chris Harrow (North Reading, Mass.), Jarid Polley (North Reading, Mass.)/Matt Quattrociocchi (Germantown, Md.) and Nick Hildreth (Harvard, Mass.)/Jeremy Morgenbesser (Bayport, N.Y.) all earned victories during doubles play.

After sweeping doubles play, the Pride only needed to win two singles games to clinch the match. Instead of just winning two games, Regis swept through singles play by taking all six singles matches. The match clinching contests were at No. 1 singles were Michael Beluch defeated Matthew Brown (Angola, Ind.) 6-0, 6-1 and at No. 2 singles as Chris Harrow beat Will Spofford (Kennebunk, Maine) 6-2, 6-0.

Regis would sweep through No. 3, No.4 No.5 and No. 6 singles by not losing a set and go on to take the match 9-0 against the Wildcats.

The Pride return to the courts on Saturday, March 21st when they square off in their first NECC home matchup against Newbury at 5:30 p.m. hosted at the Natick Raquet Club.
