PRIDE CLOSE OUT TAMPA TRIP WITH WIN OVER EAGLES

TAMPA, Fla. - The Regis College men's tennis team capped off their Spring Break trip with a 6-3 victory over University of Northwestern (Minn.) on Friday morning. The win marks the Pride's second straight as they improve to 2-5 on the season, while Northwestern drops to 0-4 on the year.

Regis was led by senior Andy White (Bozeman, Mont.) and freshmen Nick Hildreth (Harvard, Mass.) and Nathan Cohen (Randolph, Mass.), who all registered wins in both doubles and singles play.

The Pride entered singles play up 2-1 after Cohen and Jeremy Morgenbesser (Bayport, N.Y.) won 8-0 in No. 2 doubles, and White and Hildreth teamed up in third doubles for an 8-1 victory. Michael Beluch (Lynn, Mass.) and Jarid Polley (Reading, Mass.) narrowly fell, 8-6, to the Eagles' Jimmy Ekman (River Falls, Wis.) and Phil Gudim (Becker, Minn.) in top doubles.

Ekman and Gudim earned two more points for Northwestern in first and second singles, but the Pride were victorious in the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth positions to record the win.

Cohen defeated Levi Busse (Amery, Wis.) (6-3, 6-3) at No. 3 singles, and Jarid Polley got past Trevor Grasto (Big Lake, Minn.) (6-1, 6-2) in the fourth position, while White and Hildreth solidified the win with straight set wins at No. 5 and 6 singles, respectively.

"I'm really proud of how the guys came out with a win today. We ended the trip with a 2-1 record and the team had a great time in Tampa," said head coach John Ciarleglio. "This whole week has helped to prepare us for the conference season with solid play in both doubles and singles."

The Pride return to action on Monday, March 17 with an away match against Salve Regina, which is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
