PRIDE FALL TO ASSUMPTION IN MEN'S TENNIS

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Regis College men's tennis team wrapped up its fall competition schedule with an 8-1 defeat at the hands of Assumption College on Tuesday afternoon in Worcester, Mass. The Pride enter their Men's Tennis Invitational at 0-4 and return to matches in March.

Michael Beluch (Lynn, Mass.) and Jarid Polley (Reading, Mass.) suffered an 8-0 setback at No. 1 doubles, while Austin Nace (Sarasota, Fla.) and Andy White (Bozeman, Mont.) fell in No. 3 doubles, 8-4.

The Pride's best chance of the day came in No. 2 doubles as the duo of Nathan Cohen (Randolph, Mass.) and Jeremy Morgenbesser (Bayport, N.Y.) dropped only an 8-6 decision.

In singles play, Morgenbesser picked up his first collegiate tennis win with a 7-6 (10-4), 6-3 win at No. 4 singles over Matt Drolet. Andy White nearly picked up a win in No. 5 singles, forcing a tie-break in the second set before falling 6-3, 7-6 (10-4).

Nick Hildreth (Harvard, Mass.) forced a third set in his match with Michael Breen at No. 6 singles after rallying from a 6-2 loss in the opening set to post a 6-4 win in game two. However, Breen rebounded for a 10-4 set three win in the final game to win the singles match.
