MEN'S TENNIS HOPES TO DEVELOP PROGRAM OF SUCCESS

Weston, Mass.— In its first-year as a varsity program, men’s tennis is trying to build a solid foundation for a successful program. “Success is not measured by the number of wins, but how one competes,” said John Ciarleglio, head coach of the men’s tennis program.

“We have talked about wanting our opponents to remember that Regis’ men’s tennis team are tough competitors,” he continued. Most of the team is playing tennis for the first time, with that Ciarleglio has directed practices that work on the player’s skills and match play.

“Both coach [Josh] Winer and I have worked with our players on ways to improve mental toughness before a match,” said Ciarleglio.

Tennis can wear on the body, especially the mind. With Ciarleglio and Winer teaching not only mental strength, but emphasizing skills work will be greatly beneficial to the Pride’s completion of its primary objectve—to compete well.

The Pride has played in three matches thus far, and will head into its next match Saturday, April 3 versus Nichols College.
