WESTON, Mass. - Based on performance not only on the soccer pitch but also in the classroom, four members of the Regis College men's soccer team have earned Academic All-District® recognition from College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA), announced Tuesday, Nov. 15, by the national organization.

In order to be an Academic All-District® honoree, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore at their institution and have spent at least one full year at that particular school, have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above, and have played at least 50 percent of their team's contests as a starter or important reserve.

Nick Cardenas (Hudson, N.H.) represented the Pride on the GNAC Men's Soccer All-Sportsmanship Team. He appeared in 11 matches this past season, including 10 starts, and earned his first career assist on the team's second goal during its 2-1 victory at Dean Sept. 21. Cardenas was one of the team captains during the 2022 campaign. A two-time Academic All-GNAC honoree, he is majoring in exercise science and nutrition.

Brevin Frankel (Millbury, Mass.) battled injuries during the year but did appear in 10 matches for the Pride, including seven starts. He picked up assists on both Regis goals during the team's 2-1 victory over Westfield State Sept. 14, including the game-winning tally in the 72nd minute. Frankel earned his first career collegiate goal at Emerson Oct. 10. He is currently majoring in public health.

Santiago Pedraza Novak (Bogota, Colombia) earns his second career Academic All-District® award after receiving one in 2020-21, becoming one of the first two male student-athletes in Regis history to be selected. He appeared in 15 matches, including 14 starts, during the 2022 season and scored two goals. The 2022-23 Regis SAAC President and a two-time Academic All-GNAC honoree, he is majoring in biology on a pre-med track.

Javin Stickney (Gorham, Maine) was a key reserve through most of the season for the Pride, appearing in 15 matches with five starts. He earned his first career collegiate start in the season-opening victory over Massachusetts Maritime Sept. 3. Stickney played a season-high 77 minutes at Anna Maria Oct. 22 and took five shots during the team's win at Lesley Sept. 7. He is majoring in exercise science.

Academic All-District® honorees advance to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December.
