NOTE: REVISED STORY

LEXINGTON, Mass. - Regis College defeated Lesley University in a low-scoring but competitive contest, 1-0, Wednesday night in a non-conference collegiate men's soccer match at Minuteman High School.

After a scoreless first half where the Pride outshot the Lynx 17-5, Regis took advantage of a free kick opportunity in the 64th minute of play when Federico Lavini-Ayalla (Weston, Fla.) sent a pass to the middle of the box, where Luke Ayotte (Cromwell, Conn.) controlled it and found the open net to score the only goal of the game.

Both teams forced the goalies to make tough saves, with Freddie Beckmann (Franklin, Mass.) making six for Regis while Josiah Williams stopped 11 shots on goal for Lesley. Overall, the Pride outshot Lesley, 28-9, while also controlling the game in terms of corner kicks by a margin of 9-3.

Regis College improves to 2-0 on the young season and returns to competition Saturday, Sept. 10, to take on Albertus Magnus on the road starting at 3:30 p.m. Lesley University (0-2) next plays Friday, Sept. 9, in a road match against MCLA beginning at 6 p.m.
