Fall 2021 Senior Spotlight – Men’s Soccer

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College men's soccer team capped off its 2021 home schedule Wednesday, Oct. 20, by recognizing its seniors before the match against Albertus Magnus.

Natale Arini (Plainville, Conn.) appeared in 38 matches, including 27 starts, during his collegiate career. He played a significant role for the Pride, first as an outside back and then as a midfielder. He received his first career collegiate start against Suffolk University Sept. 26, 2018. After starting all 14 matches he appeared in during the 2019 season, he made seven starts among nine appearances in 2021. Arini helped the Pride defensively during four shutouts this past season, including in conference matches against Colby-Sawyer and Elms. Arini is majoring in business management.

Freddie Beckmann (Franklin, Mass.) appeared in 22 matches in net for the Pride, including 14 career starts. This past season, he started 11 matches, notching four shutouts during the year as he posted a 1.87 goals against average and a .736 save percentage with 67 total saves. He was named GNAC Goalkeeper of the Week Sept. 13 after holding Anna Maria to one goal, making key saves in the 82nd and 85th minutes as well as stopping an Anna Maria scoring chance in the final seconds. Beckmann collected a career-high 14 saves in a 1-0 victory at Emmanuel Oct. 27. The 2021-22 President of Regis SAAC, Beckmann, a two-time Academic All-GNAC honoree, is majoring in exercise science.

Ivan Ramirez (San Juan, Puerto Rico) completed his collegiate career with 20 appearances in net for the Pride, including 13 starts. During the 2018 season, he made seven saves in a 1-1 draw at Lasell Sept. 19, 2018. In 2019, he totaled 815 minutes between the pipes, collecting 50 total saves. His career high of eight saves came against Saint Joseph's College Oct. 3, 2019, and University of Saint Joseph Oct. 23, 2019. This season, against the same two schools, he finished with seven saves in each match. Ramirez also played in the field in two additional matches, taking a shot on goal at Lasell Oct. 9. Ramirez, a two-time Academic All-GNAC selection, is majoring in biology on a pre-med track.

Marcos Rivera (San Juan, Puerto Rico) served as one of the team captains during the 2021 season. During his collegiate career, he appeared in 44 matches, including 16 starts. He scored his first career goal at Rivier Oct. 10, 2018. This season, both of his goals came against Elms College Oct. 4, including the game-winning tally midway through the first half. Rivera finished the season with 14 total shots, including seven shots on goal. After the season, he was selected as Regis' representative on the GNAC Men's Soccer All-Sportsmanship Team. A two-time Academic All-GNAC honoree, Rivera is majoring in biology with a pre-PA track, plus he has a minor in public health.

Diego Roman (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) started all 46 matches he appeared in during his collegiate career, entering the starting lineup right away as a first-year player in 2018. He scored the game-winning goal against Suffolk Sept. 26, 2018. After collecting two more goals during the 2019 campaign, he earned three goals in 2021. Against Anna Maria Sept. 11, he tied the match at 1-1 with 51 seconds remaining in the first half and then scored the game-winning goal with 13 minutes left in regulation. A defensive stalwart for the Pride, he helped the team to five shutouts this past season with his play, earning Second Team All-GNAC recognition. A two-time Academic All-GNAC selection, Roman is majoring in biology with a minor in nutrition.

Nick Scavetta (Nashua, N.H.) appeared in 23 matches during his collegiate career, including 18 starts. In his first year with the program, he started 13 of the 15 matches he played in, helping the Pride as a defender post five shutouts and a 1.38 goals against average. He was a consistent presence in the starting lineup in 2018, beginning with the season opener at Lesley Sept. 2, 2018. This past season, Scavetta appeared in eight matches, including five starts. He played in three Regis shutouts: at Mass Maritime Sept. 4, against Lesley Sept. 8, and against Colby-Sawyer Sept. 25. He also took three total shots during his career, including two shots on goal. Scavetta is majoring in business management.

In 2021, the Regis College men's soccer team posted an overall record of 7-8-2, including a 5-5-2 league mark to finish sixth in the GNAC regular season standings. The Pride qualified for the GNAC Tournament for the third time since joining the conference in 2017.
