Pride Men's Soccer Scores Late to Earn Tie on Road

NEWTON, Mass. – After trailing for the majority of the game, Regis College received a late goal from Federico Lavini-Ayalla (Weston, Fla.) that resulted in a 1-1 draw with Lasell University Saturday afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference men's collegiate soccer match at Taylor Field.

Lasell was the first to strike with a goal in the 20th minute of play by Laser forward Jaydon Perez, who scored off a pass from Jake Ouellette.

Despite a barrage of shot attempts from the Pride, the Lasers were able to maintain a 1-0 lead well into the second half until Lavini-Ayalla tied the game with his first goal of the season. The goal came on a follow-up shot after his previous attempt ricocheted off the legs of Lasell goalkeeper Zack Laware. Lavini-Ayalla's goal would prove to be the final one of the contest as the two teams fought to a stalemate after 110 minutes.

The Pride managed to outshoot Lasell 19-9 with Santiago Pedraza Novak (Bogota, Colombia) leading the way with five shots on goal. Regis goalie Freddie Beckmann (Franklin, Mass.) totaled two saves during the match, while Laware was credited with nine saves.

Regis (5-4-1, 3-3-1 GNAC) travels to West Hartford, Conn., to face the University of Saint Joseph in a conference matchup Wednesday, Oct. 13, beginning at 6 p.m.
