Barroso, Da Silva Represent Pride on All-GNAC Teams

WINTHROP, Mass. – Senior Jared Barroso (Central Falls, R.I.) received Second Team All-GNAC acclaim, and junior Cesar Da Silva (Boca Raton, Fla.) earned Third Team All-GNAC recognition, as the results of the voting by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men's soccer coaches for the league's postseason awards were announced Monday.

Barroso has been named All-GNAC for the third straight season after collecting league honors in 2017 while at Mount Ida and in 2018 at Regis. This season, Barroso scored a goal during the Pride's 3-1 victory at Emerson and also picked up an assist in the team's win at Dean. Barroso was a stabilizing force in the midfield for the Pride throughout his two seasons with the program.

Da Silva scored Regis' first goal of the 2019 season in the opener against Lesley, and then he converted on a penalty kick with 15:11 remaining in regulation to tie the Pride's match against Saint Joseph at 1-1, a contest that eventually went to overtime. The junior midfielder came back from missing four matches early in the year due to injury and played a significant role in Regis' offensive attack.

Da Silva was also chosen as Regis' representative on the GNAC Men's Soccer All-Sportsmanship Team. One of the tri-captains during the 2019 campaign, Da Silva is a GNAC All-Academic honoree from the 2018-19 academic year currently majoring in exercise science.

Regis finished the 2019 regular season with a 4-13 overall record, including a 2-9 mark within the conference. The Pride were competitive throughout the year, as they were involved in eight one-goal decisions.
