Regis Men’s Soccer Announces End-of-Season Awards

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College men's soccer team handed out its end-of-season awards recently to two student-athletes who played a significant role in the team's success during the 2018 season.

Ken Niyonzima (Dracut, Mass.), already a Third Team All-GNAC selection, was voted the team's Most Valuable Player by his teammates after emerging as a significant scoring threat for the Pride. He led the team with nine goals in 2018, the fourth-highest total in a single season by a Regis player. He scored the game-winning goal in the 3-1 win over Eastern Nazarene Sept. 5 and the 1-0 victory at Emmanuel Sept. 11.

Junior defender Scott Holcomb (Natick, Mass.) was named the team's Most Improved Player by the coaching staff. Holcomb, a member of the GNAC Men's Soccer All-Sportsmanship Team, appeared in 16 matches, including 13 starts, and helped the Pride post five shutouts during the 2018 campaign.

For the fourth straight season, Regis finished with a winning overall record at 8-6-2, including five one-goal victories.
